AminoChain 소개
AminoChain is a Layer 2 network for healthcare institutions that deploys AminoNode software inside hospitals and biobanks, mapping specimen inventories, records and research data into a common format onchain, with specimens represented as NFTs and authorisation and usage records updated as they move. It addresses the opacity of specimen requests, where researchers once spent about eight weeks emailing, signing licences and arranging shipping; the Specimen Center folds search, request and licensing into one marketplace, and donors can track where samples go and share in commercial proceeds.
Within DeSci it works the supply side of data and specimens, complementing funders such as VitaDAO and substituting for CRO-run collections, with more than 20 biobanks and roughly 400,000 specimens connected. Institutions keep their own systems and data sovereignty while nodes only standardise, privacy rests on de-identification and zero-knowledge attestations of permissions, and compliance follows HIPAA and GDPR. Specimens are linked by privacy-preserving identifiers so one donation can serve several studies, with access revoked when a licence expires.
In 2026, AminoChain partnered with at-home blood collection company ImYoo to bring its capillary blood samples onto the on-chain specimen network, making ImYoo the first biobank to administer sample collection on the AminoChain protocol.
At the time of the announcement, AminoChain's Specimen Center listed 25 domestic and international biobanks holding more than 500,000 specimens from roughly 150,000 unique donors, searchable by researchers who can then request licensing. The protocol separates patient identity from sample data, letting donors track how specimens are used, earn incentives and stay re-contactable, while consent management and compliance reporting are automated on contracts. The project previously raised a $5 million seed round led by a16z with Cercano and others participating, $7.8 million in total, marking a16z's first investment in decentralized science.
AminoChain plans to extend the Specimen Center from search to a closed licensing and settlement loop in the second half of 2026, connect more hospitals and research institutions in 2027, and split the compliance layer by jurisdiction.
