Coinme 소개
Coinme, founded in 2014, is a US cash on-ramp for crypto. Through the "Buy Bitcoin" option on Coinstar kiosks in supermarkets, MoneyGram locations and ReadyCode cash-dispensing ATMs, customers turn banknotes into BTC and other assets, and can buy, sell, send and withdraw in the Coinme app. The mechanism is voucher-based: cash goes into a terminal, a redemption code is issued, and the asset is claimed in a KYC-verified account; the company registers as a money transmitter state by state and runs AML monitoring and per-transaction limits.
The network connects people without bank accounts, or without appetite for wire transfers, to on-chain assets, earning spreads and per-transaction fees on small retail tickets, which places it closer to physical acquiring than to an order-book exchange. In October 2026 Coinme agreed to a $2.5 million settlement with regulators in 34 states and must close its kiosk business before 1 January 2027, with its AML program reviewed by an outside consultant.
