Leather 소개
Leather은 비트코인 생태계에 특화된 자체 보관형 비트코인 지갑으로, 이전 명칭은 Hiro Wallet입니다. BTC, Stacks(STX), Ordinals, BRC-20 등 다양한 자산을 지원하며, 브라우저 확장 프로그램과 데스크톱 앱을 제공하고 Ledger 하드웨어 지갑과 호환됩니다. 핵심 강점은 오픈소스 코드와 보안 감사, Stacks와의 깊은 통합으로, 사용자가 지갑 내에서 직접 Stacking, DeFi, NFT 관리를 할 수 있다는 점입니다. 범용 지갑과 달리 Leather는 비트코인 생태계의 복잡한 요구에 더 특화되어 있습니다. 시장 문제점으로는 비트코인 생태계 도구가 분산되어 있어 사용자가 여러 플랫폼에서 다양한 자산을 관리해야 하며, 이는 번거롭고 피싱 공격에 취약하다는 점입니다. Leather는 통합 진입점을 통해 진입 장벽을 낮추고, 자체 보관을 강조하여 사용자가 항상 자신의 개인키를 통제할 수 있도록 합니다. 지난 6개월(2026년 2월~8월) 동안 Leather는 STX의 리스테이킹 기능을 도입하고, USDCx 자산 지원을 추가했으며, Onramper를 통한 법정화폐 입금 기능을 통합하고 Stacking 인터페이스를 최적화하여 투명성을 높였습니다. 팀은 사용자에게 피싱 사기에 대해 반복적으로 경고하며, 원치 않는 이메일이나 링크를 보내지 않는다고 강조했습니다. 지난 2년간 주요 보안 사고나 소송은 기록되지 않았습니다. 전반적인 개발은 기능 개선과 생태계 확장에 초점을 맞추었습니다.
Leather narrowed its asset coverage in 2026 and concentrated on Stacks and Bitcoin L2: in March it integrated Bitflow Swap, letting roughly 370,000 users swap BTC-ecosystem assets without leaving the wallet.
Leather's Runes support ended on 16 April, followed by Ordinals and BRC-20 on 18 May, removing inscription UTXO protection; users were told to move assets or restore in a compatible wallet, with the team citing indexing infrastructure and third-party API overhead. Afterwards only a generic warning remains when spending from Taproot addresses.
Leather's roadmap redirects resources to Stacks and Bitcoin L2 features, including multi-wallet support, reworked transaction flows and sBTC use cases, with Stacking, L2 DeFi and Ledger signing as core expansion areas.
