Plutus

Plutus is a crypto payment project started in 2015 whose core product is the Plutus Card, a non-custodial crypto debit card. Unlike prepaid cards that custody funds with the issuer, the Plutus Card connects to the user's own wallet, deducting the corresponding crypto at the live exchange rate at purchase time and converting it to fiat for settlement, with private keys and assets staying in the user's hands. The card supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and multiple tokens and works anywhere the card networks are accepted, online or in-store.

The incentive structure is the Plutus+ subscription: users pay monthly or yearly for tiers that grant 3 to 8 percent cashback on spending, with rewards paid in PLU or a user-designated crypto asset, and subscription fees and cashback caps rising by tier. The PLU token runs through the entire system, covering subscription payment, cashback settlement, and tier benefits. On the pain-point side, holders of crypto assets typically must sell and withdraw at an exchange before daily spending, bearing spreads and fees; Plutus productizes that step so consumption and holding can happen simultaneously.
