Status 소개
Status is an Ethereum-ecosystem mobile crypto messaging and wallet app that combines private chat, group channels, a dApp browser and a non-custodial wallet in one client, with the SNT token historically used for namespaces and community governance and a Keycard hardware wallet isolating keys on an NFC card. It targets fragmented mobile entry points: messaging, signing, transfers and dApp access happen in a single app without switching tools.
At end of April 2026 Status Network dropped its standalone mainnet plan and folded into the Linea stack, with the planned gas-free execution becoming an optional capability of Linea rollups, reserved rewards distributed to pre-depositors and SNT and ETH treasuries later opened for withdrawal on Linea mainnet. On the product side, the October 8 App 2.39 added Robinhood Chain support, cross-chain and cross-account swaps and bridging, and mobile stealth browsing, with a redesigned Keycard interface. In the Ethereum entry track it overlaps MetaMask more on messaging and community, and overlaps end-to-end encrypted chat tools by having wallet and on-chain identity built in
Major developments: Announced on April 30 that Status Network would not launch as a standalone mainnet but merge into the Linea stack, making gasless execution an optional capability for Linea-based rollups; a reward pool of 20 million SNT and 20 million LINEA was reserved for pre-depositors, with SNT and ETH vault withdrawals opening on Linea Mainnet on May 20.
Product updates: Released app version 2.39 on October 8, adding Robinhood Chain support, cross-chain and cross-account swaps and bridges, mobile incognito browsing, and a redesigned Keycard hardware wallet experience.
On April 30, 2026, Status announced that Status Network would no longer launch as a standalone L2, folding its codebase and research into the Linea stack so gasless execution becomes an option for any rollup built on it; the testnet had processed more than 30 million transactions and audits by Cyfrin and Cantina were complete.
On May 20, 2026, the SNT and ETH pre-deposit vaults opened for withdrawal, followed by the LINEA and GUSD vaults on May 26, with 20 million SNT and 20 million LINEA distributed as liquidity rewards. The Status app has exceeded 50,000 monthly active users since January, and version 2.38 in June added a built-in mobile browser, private push notifications and support for eight more L2 networks.
Future strategy and roadmap: concentrate on the Status app by fusing private messaging, wallet and browsing, while continuing to maintain the Nimbus client and the Waku messaging protocol.
