IOTA 소개
IOTA is a Layer 1 aimed at IoT and institutional use, rebuilt since 2024 as IOTA Rebased on Move smart contracts and delegated proof of stake, with validators taking turns to produce blocks and finality reached within a single consensus round. The ledger is organised around objects, so transactions reference and consume objects rather than account balances, which suits parallel execution and micropayments; the Starfish consensus went live on mainnet on 23 April 2026, cutting confirmation time and node sync overhead, and Protocol 36 in September brought finality one round earlier. Argentina's organ transplant registry INCUCAI uses it for institutional identity and document notarisation, producing about 50,000 records in four weeks.
Its main deployments are identity, notarisation and supply-chain provenance, distinct from general-purpose contract chains in shaping fees and throughput around device-level microtransactions. Circulating supply is about 4.66 billion against a 4.92 billion cap, growing roughly 25% a year, and fee burning is far smaller than issuance, so supply keeps expanding.

Supply and fundamentals: About 4.66 billion IOTA circulates against a 4.92 billion total, up roughly 25% in a year, and the token hit an all-time low near $0.0344 on June 30; Argentina's organ-transplant authority INCUCAI put institutional identities and document notarizations onchain with almost 50,000 notarizations in four weeks, though fee burning remains too small to drive value accrual.
In 2026 IOTA's Rebased upgrade settled into steady operation: the ledger moved from the Tangle to MoveVM, consensus became delegated proof of stake built on Mysticeti, block times reach sub-second finality, and the Coordinator is gone. At launch 4.6 billion tokens migrated from the old network, 767,000 are minted per epoch for validator rewards, and 100% of gas fees are burned, so supply floats with network usage. About 2.43 billion tokens are staked across 67 active validators.
IOTA's application focus is trade infrastructure. TWIN runs on mainnet, turning bills of lading, certificates of origin and customs filings into verifiable onchain data; the African corridor cut clearance from weeks to days and trade costs by roughly 30%, helping Kenyan flower exporters reach European buyers, while in Europe a partnership with Teesside University seconded four UK government trade officials for a twelve-month digital trade pilot backed by 3.5 million pounds of freeport seed funding. Digital product passports now cover batteries, textiles and building materials.
IOTA plans to grow trade-node data writes until they cover issuance, extend the ADAPT programme across Africa, and turn digital identity and product passports into reusable compliance modules.
