Movement 소개

Developer bankruptcy: On July 15, 2026, MVMT Labs filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware, listing assets of only $100,000-$500,000 against liabilities of up to $10 million; MOVE hit an all-time low of $0.0104 on July 20, down about 99% from its peak. The network continues to operate under Move Industries, which is pivoting to stablecoin settlement for emerging markets.
Unlocks and restructuring: Roughly 165 million MOVE unlock around the 9th of each month (about 4% of circulating supply); the creditor claims deadline was September 14 and the restructuring plan was due October 13; in September, Switchboard deprecated oracle support for Movement.
Movement began as an Ethereum Layer 2 built on MoveVM. After its MOVE token launch in December 2024, a market-maker selling episode triggered a crisis, and co-founder Rushi Manche was removed following an internal investigation. On 22 July 2026 the original core developer MVMT Labs filed for Chapter 11 protection in Delaware, listing assets of $100,001 to $500,000 against liabilities of up to $10 million and close to 300 creditors, with Manche as the largest unsecured creditor at over $1.6 million.
The network itself was taken over by a new operator, Move Industries, and has pivoted from a Layer 2 to a sovereign Layer 1 aimed at stablecoin settlement in emerging markets. Circle issued USDCx, a natively issued stablecoin, on Movement in March 2026; in May it acquired the on-chain vault infrastructure Canopy to work alongside the credit protocol MovePosition, made a strategic investment in Stableyard and designated Yuzu as the ecosystem's leading DEX to consolidate fragmented liquidity. In June it announced access to compliant payment networks covering the United States, Canada and the European Union, and claims more than 300,000 users.
Future strategy and roadmap: Movement is trying to separate its operational future from its bankrupt past with a compliant payments and stablecoin settlement narrative. The roadmap covers public mainnet genesis with validator staking and slashing, the Move Alliance flywheel where application revenue funds MOVE buybacks, and longer term a unified Move layer connecting Sui, Aptos and Movement. The risk is that execution rests entirely on Move Industries, while ecosystem growth still depends more on official initiatives than organic expansion; reputational damage from the market-making scandal and bankruptcy, plus a long token unlock schedule, will keep capping any re-rating.
Rushi Manche, Co-founder, departed, began his career in database and security engineering at UnitedHealth Group, later a software engineer at Aptos, co-founded Movement Labs in 2022 and was fired in 2025 over a MOVE token market-making arrangement controversy.
Cooper Scanlon, Co-founder, dropped out of Vanderbilt University, built the first Move yield aggregator, co-founded Movement Labs in 2022 and leads strategy.
Andy Bell, Director of Engineering, graduated from the University of Nottingham, formerly VP Engineering at Biconomy and CTO at Ajuna, leads Movement's engineering.
Brian Henhsi, Director of Strategy, graduated from Tsinghua University, formerly at Sui, Mysten Labs and Chia, leads Movement's strategy.
