OKX 소개
OKX is a leading centralized exchange (CEX) offering retail and institutional users spot, perpetual and wealth-management services, and also operates its own X Layer public chain. It targets the split between centralized and decentralized experience: users want both the liquidity and matching depth of an exchange and the self-custody of on-chain assets. Its core matching engine uses a centralized Order Book with low-latency matching of spot and perpetual orders, while X Layer extends some asset and identity operations on-chain using zkEVM technology.
In May 2026 OKX launched Exchange OS, opening spot and perpetual trading infrastructure to developers via API. Yet the platform's value depends heavily on centralized matching and custodial trust, and asset safety and compliance status hinge on the regulatory framework where the operator is based. Its ecosystem synergy comes from linking X Layer with the trading business rather than from fully permissionless on-chain neutrality.

Major partnerships & funding: On October 6, Circle, Ripple and Standard Chartered's SC Ventures invested in OKX at a $25 billion valuation, lifting OKB to around $136; the joint venture with ICE, parent of the NYSE, plans to launch tokenized NYSE stocks in H2 2026 and is applying under the SEC's new September 2026 innovation exemption.
Token mechanics & ecosystem: OKB is the sole gas token of X Layer; in May 2026 OKX launched Exchange OS, opening spot and perpetuals trading infrastructure to developers, while continuing its revenue-funded periodic buyback-and-burn cadence. OKX holds an EU MiCA license.
In March 2026 ICE invested about $200 million in OKX at a $25 billion valuation; at the end of May the exchange launched Exchange OS on X Layer, letting third parties deploy spot, perpetual and prediction markets. In October it raised further capital from Circle, Ripple, SC Ventures and QRT at the same $25 billion valuation.
On October 5, OKXICE, the joint venture between OKX and ICE, filed with the SEC for a five-year exemption to run a 24/7 venue for tokenized US stocks, initially covering 63 NYSE-listed names with a 75-name cap per venue, deploying contracts on X Layer and settling through permissioned Uniswap v4 pools gated by soulbound tokens. The US entity OKX INC holds an MSB registration and several state licences and is opening registration in phases.
Future strategy and roadmap: OKX's valuation logic is shifting from exchange fees to infrastructure rent: after ICE invested $200 million, their OKXICE joint venture filed under the SEC's five-year innovation exemption to trade 63 NYSE-listed stocks around the clock, and OKB has moved from a discount voucher to X Layer's sole gas token and the stake required to deploy Exchange OS - third parties must stake OKB before opening a venue, a rare form of structural value capture. RWA is wired into the same stack, with BUIDL usable as margin and custodied by Standard Chartered, while Circle and Ripple joined the same round in October. The risk is that X Layer's TVL and real activity still trail leading L2s and the whole design hinges on the exemption landing. Exchange competition thus shifts from matching fees to who controls the compliant issuance channel.
